If you are a mobile tester and looking for how to screen capture in Android based device then follow below steps. Using below steps you can do screen capture in android device using Dalvik Debug Monitor (DDMS)
1. Java is required to be installed so install it from here Java. If you have already installed Java then make sure you have correct version of Java is installed.Check your Java version from here Java version. If you do not have correct Java version installed then install the suggested version on that page.
2. Download the latest Android sdk from here : Android SDK
4. Next step is to install the device driver.Go to the 'android-sdk-windows' folder of sdk and launch the Android SDK and AVD Manager tool by clicking 'SDK Setup.exe' file.
5. Go to settings in AVD Manager tool and then check the force download through HTTP in the settings as shown below.
6. Now select Available packages in AVD Manager and look for 'USB Driver Package'. Select this package and install it by clicking 'Installed selected' button of the AVD Manager.
7. After success full installation of USB driver select Installed Packages from AVD Manager and make sure that 'USB Driver Package' is listed over there.
8. Now go to the 'android-sdk-windows' folder of the SDK and observe that 'usb_driver' folder appears it it. In case device driver are not installed successfully then follow the instruction available over Android USB Driver
9. On your Android phone go to Settings>Applications>Development and then Check the checkbox for "USB debugging."
10. Connect your Android-powered device to your computer’s USB port. Windows will detect the device and launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
11. Select “Install from a list or specific location” and click “Next.”

12. Select “Search for the best driver in these locations”; un-check “Search removable media”; and check “Include this location in the search.”
13. Click “Browse…” and locate the device driver folder in SDK where you installed the device driver (\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver).
14. Click “Next” to install the driver.

13. Click “Browse…” and locate the device driver folder in SDK where you installed the device driver (\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver).

16. Now find the DDMS batch file in tools folder and launch it.
17. After DDMS launches, you should see your device listed in it.

18. Now select you device in DDMS and then in DDMS select Device > Screen capture in the menu bar, or press CTRL-S.This will bring up the "Device Screen Capture" interface showing current screen on you device. Save the image and you are done !
19. You can Refresh the current image to generate a new image of your current screen to capture new screen shot.
